Locronan is an ancient city of weavers, it owes its name to St Ronan, an ermit who founded a parish there.
The forest of Nevet, still inhabited by the memory of the druidic cults, welcomed the St Ronan ermitage in the 9th. Thanks to the dukes of Britanny, Locronan became one of the jewels of Breton art in the 15th. The local weavers manufacture made the city famous, the material was used to equip the sails of the “ Compagnie des Indes ”’ ships.
