At the western tip of the Ré island, the village is surrounded by salt pans.

The streets are lined up with hollyhock, Ars-en-Ré. Is one of the oldest parishes on Ré, it was linked to the 1st salt pans in the 12th, still in use today with 60 salt merchants. The 12 th church portal , the black & white church tower, whose 60 feet spire guided sailors in straits. There is also a nice harbour for pleasure boats, formerly used by ships carrying salt.
