Villefranche-de-Conflent

Languedoc-Roussillon

It has been the capital of Conflent since it was created in 1090.

The belfry-tower was the headquarter of the administrative power and many shops bear witness to its commecial past. Adding to its medieval walls, the architect Vauban strengthened the place in the 17th century as it was located alongside the border of Spain.
